Happy Halloween

This Halloween, we "celebrated" more than we have in the past. After several people turning down the Party Planning committee that Justin is on to host the department Halloween party, we ended up with it. Luckily, all we had to do was have the place, the committee brought everything and set up and took down. It was a fun night. The kids did pumpkin carving and had a pinata. Everyone else just stood around the fire pit (donated by the Native American Student Council on campus) once the sun went down, because it was freezing! Alina had fun playing with several of the other little girls that came. Nathanael was a hit in his Robin Hood costume:) until his tummy got upset and he had to go to bed. Turns out he has a virus, but seems mostly ok.

Tonight I took Alina trick-or-treating for the first time. She practiced saying trick-or-treat before we left. I told her as we walked that if the light was on it meant we could get candy there, she figured it out quick and had so much fun! My friend Nikki stayed with Nate at home and passed out candy, because Justin is teaching a class on Mondays and Wednesday nights.

We did a family theme (Alina was the fairy in the forest:) I "made" our costumes. I sewed friar tuck, my veil and sewed, dyed put together Nate's costume.

Once the sun went down, this was the place to be.

Adam and Ashely, these are some of our other good friends. Adam teaches history with Justin and Ashley works in the testing center. They both love soccer!

The pinata was a big "hit"!

Erika, who also teaches history, came as Jackie O. and Alina was totally enamored by her! She was so excited when "Jackie" let her borrow her sunglasses!
