Seabrook Island

This past week we had a great time at the beach with my family. We rented a "villa" down at Seabrook Island near Charleston. Unfortunately, Justin could only come on the last day (my birthday) because he is working so hard on his dissertation. But we all had a lot of fun and were able to relax, have fun and spend time together!
At first Alina wasn't too sure about the water and the sand. But after a few short minutes of showing her how to put sand on her legs, she grew to love it. After the first day she would see her float and say "go, poo (pool) go." I was amazed at how much she learned this week!
On Tuesday, Irina and Justin, Mark, and I went to Charleston for a short trip. On our way we stopped at the Angel Oak. It is HUGE!!! It covers 17,000 square feet.

In Charleston, Irina and I love the cemeteries by the old churches. This is one of Irina's favorite to visit. While in Charleston, Jessica met up with us and we went to Hyman's for lunch. Then Jessica came to the beach with us.


We found a good place to eat, Red's Icehouse, by the Bohicket Marina, but we made the mistake of choosing to eat outside when it was very hot. We had a good time, despite the heat.

This was the sunset on my last day as a twenty-something. As hard as turning 30 was, this was a beautiful view!

We were so happy to have Justin come on Friday to play with us and enjoy my birthday!

More Puppy Pics

Here are some more pictures of "Maya." We think she's about 3-4 months old (but truly have no idea, not a vet) and she's less than 201bs, maybe around 15lbs. She's been very good and we hope someone will give her a good home:)

Puppy!!!

So today I walked out on our front porch and the sweetest little puppy met me. She had made our porch home and didn't seem like she was going anywhere. She cuddled up next to Justin and absolutely adores him! We are calling her Maya for now and trying to find her a good home. I put signs up all over the neighborhood, but if we don't hear anything in the next few days we'd like to find her a good family. She is sooooo sweet! She knows how to sit, but other than that doesn't seem to have been very well taken care of. We gave her two baths, put a flea collar on her (just in case) and gave her Macy's old collar. Right now she's living on our back deck, but if she seems ok, she'll probably end up inside soon:) Please let us know if you might be interested or know someone who would. She is very mild mannered and loving and needs a good family to love her!

Can you resist this face? We almost can't. We had to tell each other that no matter what, three dogs is too many and we can't keep her. So please help us find her a good family!

Hatched!

The little birdies have hatched! At first they were just a mass of fur that moved up and down (breathing). Now they stretch their little necks out once in a while and open their beaks. I got to see the momma feed the little ones from the laundry room window yesterday, it was kinda gross, but kinda neat too. I wish Alina could get what was going on, but she's still a little young and since we don't want to move the basket with the birds in it, she does really get to see them.

Work, Work, Work!

Today was my last day of school, and I only had to come up here for a few hours, so Alina came with me. She enjoyed walking around and playing with anything that was in mommy's desk. She likes walking up and down the hall. Then we found some popsicles in the freezer and that was great! Especially, when Mrs. Tennille couldn't help herself but give Alina a second one, because she couldn't resist Alina's more/please signs and words! We had fun, but now we are ready to go home, just waiting for them to say go!

The Blind Side

So after watching "The Blind Side", I realized that two years ago we got to see Michael Oher play when we went to Ole Miss to watch the Carolina Game. It was their homecoming and the funnest (yes, funnest:) game we've been too. The Ole Miss fans are awesome. They give a whole new meaning to tailgating and what's even better, they insist on you coming and sharing their food and drinks even though you are wearing the other teams gear! It was such a fun experience.

At Ole Miss they have this tradition where all the football players walk down this long side walk before the game and all the fans stand along the side walk and cheer them on. Well, Leslie, Marcie and I did not want to miss that. So we walked right up and tried to look over some people's shoulders since there was already a crowd. Being the nice people Ole Miss fans are, a couple said we could stand in their spot since they are there all the time! Yes, that is how nice they are! So we stood and took pictures and gave high fives (I think I was rooting for Ole Miss at this point). Then we enjoyed the game and even beat them! After losing to us at their own homecoming, they still insisted we try their Hotty Totty Punch:)

So after watching the movie, I looked through my old pics to see if I had taken a picture of Michael Oher, this was the fall of 2008, his senior year at Ole Miss. I didn't, but it turns out Jason and Leslie did. Kind of neat huh?
