Skating, Skiing, and Sledding

We've been busy with all sorts of fun activities this past week!  Last Thursday our church had a family skate night at a local roller skating rink which was a lot of fun.  On Monday, I took Alina up for a day of ski lessons and skied a half day myself.  Then yesterday, we went up to Old Powderhorn as a family for some sledding.  Its been fun, but  I'm also getting pretty tired. Here's some pictures from our fun adventures.

Our friends Brittany and Judah

Nate thought it was more fun to carry his skates around than actually skate.  He tried it a little bit but gave up pretty quickly.  Alina really ended up liking it and has asked to go again!

Monday was a perfect day for skiing!  The weather was beautiful and there was hardly anyone up there.  Alina did a good job in her lessons, but was pretty tired by the end of the day.  I worked in the lodge on some papers the first half of the day, but couldn't resist and skied the second half.

Yesterday we went up to Old Powderhorn for some sledding. It turned out to be a good day for that as well.  We like to go during school hours so there aren't any people up there really.  It is a bit of a long drive for only sledding for like 30-40 minutes, but we all had fun.  It snowed for a bit while we were up there, so that was fun too.

Someone made this "igloo" up there and it was pretty neat.  The kids were too scared to climb in the "monster's mouth" they said, so I did instead:)
This was Nate the whole time it was snowing, he just wanted to catch snowflakes with his mouth:) He isn't screaming or crying in the pic below, he's catching snowflakes!

They only like to ride with Daddy:(

As much fun as winter is here, I'm pretty excited about the spring weather down in the valley.  Ready to plant and play outside more!

Not much to blog about...

Well, starting around Valentine's weekend we've been spreading a virus around so our days look a little more like this:

Justin started it and after about two weeks of coughing finally went to the doctor and got a z-pac.  Both kids developed ear infections, and Nate is not a fan of antibiotics.  I was the last hold out, telling people I usually don't get sick and this weekend it finally caught up with me.

Nate has been so cute lately wanting to play whatever he just read or watched, but this is by far my favorite:

Its a sweet story about a little mouse named Lewis (the author dedicated the book and named him for C.S. Lewis which makes it all the more sweet) who gets his little hole in the tree ready for winter and how he meets another small mouse named Joy, that makes his cozy home complete.  He is Lewis and I'm Joy, and we go to his warm, cozy house (his room) and drink raspberry tea with honey.  He quotes a line from the book about seeing her shining eyes and looks at my eyes and says "you have shiny eyes."  I love it!

We have some more "fun" stuff coming up so hopefully more to blog about next week:)
