The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Of Pinterest that is. Well, not exactly, but sort of. Since we've moved in, we've worked a lot on the house and made some great improvements. Recently, I sort of caught the Pinterest bug and figured out a whole list of things I wanted to do. Some that needed to be done. Some that just seemed fun. Some worked, some, well you'll see.

First let's start with some before pictures. This is the room that is attached to our detached garage (is that confusing? Our garage is at the back of the house by the alley and there is a room about 8'x13' attached to it). It was a workshop or something gross for the past 50 some odd years but we wanted to make it into a useable room. So here are the before pictures, with everything stripped out of the room:
Yeah, gross I know.
Here are the windows that came out of that wall. Justin was able to save them, so I could perform a pinterest project on them. By the way, this window was behind a pegboard on the wall and we didn't even know it was there until we started removing stuff.
This is the cabinet that used to be in our bathroom. Yep, just like this, yuck I know. That's why the bathroom was the first to get the remodel if you remember the earlier post.
And now for the good, bad, and ugly of pinterest.

The Good - here are a few pinterest projects that turned out pretty good.

Upcycled Wind Chime - Alina kept wanting one after hearing the neighbors' so we made one from old cans. It was a fun project.

Homemade cleaner from vinegar and citrus - this one is in the good category, but not my favorite, its a bit vinegary for me, but it cleans ok
Eggcarton seedlings - love this one. Alina and I love looking at these everyday and seeing their progress. We have a few more plants now and are excited to replant them in the garden in the next couple of weeks.

The finished room! Well, this wasn't all Pinterest inspired, but some of it was and it's definitely in the good category. I painted the walls. Justin and Gil did the carpet and tile by the door. Justin made me this awesome desk to craft on. Be jealous Pauline:)
This is one of the old windows that I turned into "art," pinterest of course. I may still work on it a bit more, but I kind of like the way it is. It will hang above the desk, but we aren't there yet.
This is a pinterest idea for a window covering. Its actually very easy, just don't cut the wrong blinds. I used the old mini/vinyl blinds bought some fabric and glued it on. Its kind of like a roman shade. Love it. I plan to do this in the kids room too.
Here is the old bathroom cabinet. Not bad huh? Amazing what some paint can do!

All my craft supplies organized beautifully inside:)
Justin built me this cabinet to store paper in. I love it. How much easier than that milk crate system I had!

Ok. Now for the Bad. The bad thing is that I just want to keep doing projects, but there this little issue of time and two kids, hubby, you know. I have limited myself to only looking up things on pinterest that I need to do. But oh there's a whole world of fun things out there:) Sigh.

And now the Ugly. I had some family pictures that I wanted to make a family picture wall. I had planned on a hallway wall, but then I noticed this huge space above the laundry closet, that is in the family room, that seemed like a good place to hang these pictures. So I searched Pinterest and got some ideas.

And this is the ugly wall now. I tried. Really I did. And this is still in progress (obviously). But ughh, its frustrating. I spray painted any frame that wasn't black or silver black, so that I would have a theme, and by the way I will quote Nate Berkus "your frames do not have to match." I didn't want to buy all new frames, that's an expensive project, I'm going cheap here. Then I looked for some arrangement, and spent a lot of trips up and down a ladder trying to make this work. I tried several things, but here is what I have. I need to use some double sided something to make some of them stay straight, but I just don't know. It still needs help. At least its not in an obvious place.
