The Saga Continues

So, our fourth attempt at getting a house...failed. If you were following the earlier post (An Adventure in House Hunting) you know that we were kind of hoping to get a house on Texas Avenue. We had put an offer on it, but it went to foreclosure. Here's the latest since then.

Attempt #2:
We found another house that we weren't crazy about, but it would suit us. It was a bit out of our price range, but we went ahead and put a low offer on it. We didn't get it.

Attempt #3:
The Texas Avenue house went back on the market. This was a sign (obviously from the first sentence, don't get your hopes up)! So at this point Justin was back in Grand Junction and he put an offer on the house. That day we found out that there were two other offers, so we raised ours to their asking price. We didn't get it.

Attempt #4:
We found a better house than the Texas Avenue one. It was built in 1937, it had awesome character and it was in the perfect location, Chipeta Avenue. This was the part of town I wanted to be in when we left Colorado the first time, but didn't think we could find anything in our price range. It needed some fixes but we thought we would be able to do them. We put in an offer yesterday. Then we found out someone else put in an offer too. So we raised ours to the asking price. We didn't get it.

So here we are. Me in Texas with the kids, Justin in Colorado house hunting and starting a new job. If I sound down, well, I am a bit. However, I am reminded of a great song that I posted earlier by John Newton. I think it fits the circumstance. I hope you too can be encouraged by the lyrics. (Indelible Grace has a great recording of it, if you like it)

The Lord Will Provide
Though troubles assail and dangers affright,
Though friends should all fail and foes all unite;
Yet one thing secures us, whatever betide,
The scripture assures us, the Lord will provide

The birds without barn or storehouse are fed,
From them let us learn to trust for our bread:
His saints, what is fitting, shall ne'er be denied,
So long as it's written, the Lord will provide

We may, like the ships, by tempest be tossed
On perilous deeps, but cannot be lost.
Though Satan enrages the wind and the tide,
The promise engages, the Lord will provide.

His call we obey, like Abram of old,
Not knowing our way, but faith makes us bold;
For though we are strangers we have a good Guide,
And trust in all dangers, the Lord will provide

When Satan appears to stop up our path,
And fill us with fears, we triumph by faith;
He cannot take from us, though oft he has tried,
This heart-cheering promise, the Lord will provide

He tells us we're weak, our hope is in vain,
The good that we seek we ne'er shall obtain,
But when such suggestions our spirits have plied,
This answers all questions, the Lord will provide

No strength of our own, or goodness we claim,
Yet since we have known the Savior's great name;
In this our strong tower for safety we hide,
The Lord is our power, the Lord will provide

When life sinks apace and death is in view,
This word of his grace shall comfort us through:
No fearing or doubting with Christ on our side,
We hope to die shouting the Lord will provide
